Well, you see, it's like this...

...I know it's been almost an entire month since I last posted. But pleeeeeeeease, come on back, folks,...

...all three of you!

It's time for me to get back in gear, if not for you, then for myself. I've been enjoying a sunny vacation at the beach and a week-long film festival in the city, so that's my absentee excuse. For all of you who care, New York just wrapped up it's 2007 gay/lesbian film festival, and it was great. I saw several delightful films and some saucy, sassy shorts. Rupaul's Starrbooty kicked off the fest, and believe me, it kicked the door off the hinges with its world debut. Completely irreverent humor, hooker fashions, and "undercover" drag queens desperately battle for the audience's attention in this brand new career vehicle for Ru. Hey, I for one, hope he's back to stay in the limelight. He was a beacon of hope in the 90's for little lost boys everywhere who liked to dress in their mother's delicates (not me!).

And for the hundredth time I'm bringing up soulMAID which premiered this past Saturday night as the 10:00 late-night camp flick. I was simultaneously excited/neurotic as my animated segment played across the huge movie screen for all to see and scrutinize. But, I think it went over well. There was much laughter from the audience. I guess that's a good sign (unless they were laughing because they thought it was bad).

Another major perk of the festival was meeting Todd Stephens, director of Another Gay Movie. He was such a cool guy, very laid back, and super easy to talk to. I even mustered up the cajones to slip him my business card, blurting out that I would LOVE to do any sort of animation for one of his films. To my surprise, he lit up and explained that the sequel, Another Gay Move: Gays Gone Wild, would, indeed, have some animation in it. I just love NY.

So the next day, he emailed me and mentioned that I should attend the script reading of the sequel on Tuesday. I went...and boy, it was fantastically fun to get a sneak peek into the development of the material. Rupaul and Lady Bunny, along with the cast of the first film, were all there reading their lines. It was really interesting to see all of this in the early stages. I met with the producer afterwards and mentioned my interest in being a part of the animation, and he and Todd seemed open to the possibility. Todd liked the work on my site! Now, I'm not getting my hopes too high, but I SURE WOULD LOVE TO WORK ON THIS. I guess time will tell...

If you're reading all this and you have no idea what I'm talking about, check out the trailer for Another Gay Movie below. It's sort of a queer version of "American Pie".

That is freakin' awesome Justin! I think it's only a matter of time before the execs realize your awesome talent and give you your own animated show, I can see it now. Just remember your blog buddies when you're a giant big shot! Oh yeah, please feel free to showcase me however you want to in a future post, I would be very, very honored!

Wow, what a great opportunity for you Justin! That is, if it works out. But hey-- it's YOU. Of course it'll work out -- your work is fantastic! Why wouldn't they tap you for their movie?

Best of luck to you, buddy-boy. Keep in touch.
